A short message from Andy Brown, our K-12 Student Success and Technology Integration Director. We are reaching out to inform you about a new Indiana state requirement affecting attendance for students in grades K-6 along with guidelines for all students K-12. Starting this school year, if a student accumulates 5 unexcused absences within a 10-week period, the school is required to implement an Attendance Intervention Plan. This plan is designed to work collaboratively with families to address and improve student attendance, ensuring that all students have the opportunity to succeed academically. Attached is a document outlining the differences in excused, unexcused, and parent verified absences. We encourage you to review it carefully and reach out to us with any questions or concerns. Your involvement in your child’s education is vital, and we look forward to working together to ensure their success. Thank you for your attention to this important matter.

We are excited to announce a unique and creative project that will involve the entire Park Elementary community! As part of our upcoming STEAM initiative, we are planning to build a large eagle sculpture, which will be made entirely from donated, unused, and unwanted items. We are seeking all sorts of materials (anything that can withstand the weather!) that you might have lying around the house—no item is too small, too big, or too unusual! Examples of what we are looking for include silverware, gears, springs, nuts, bolts, plastic items and anything else that you no longer need. If it can be repurposed, we want it! There will be a designated collection box located at the school where you can drop off your items. We will be accepting donations up until our first STEAM night on November 21, 2024. This project is not only a wonderful way to teach our students about recycling and creativity, but it also brings our community together to create something meaningful and memorable. Your contributions, no matter how small, will help us bring our eagle sculpture to life! Thank you for your support and participation in this exciting project. We look forward to seeing the variety of materials you bring in and can’t wait to reveal our collective masterpiece on our second STEAM night in the spring!
